Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Norman Vision Clinic the leading provider of vision care products and services in Norman.
Dr. Troy Flax has been caring for patients in Norman since 1996 and is a co-owner of Norman Vision Clinic and Moore Vision Clinic. A graduate of Northeastern State University College of Optometry, he previously served in the United States Army as Chief of Optometry at Fort McClellan, Alabama before returning to Oklahoma to begin private practice.
One of the things patients appreciate most about Dr. Flax is his ability to explain complicated eye conditions in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. Whether discussing cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, diabetes, or vision correction options, he believes patients make better decisions when they truly understand their eyes and their treatment choices.
Throughout his career, Dr. Flax has been committed to combining advanced technology with personal relationships. He enjoys helping patients understand not only what is happening with their vision, but why it is happening and what can be done to protect and improve their eye health.
Dr. Flax’s professional interests include comprehensive eye care, glaucoma management, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, dry eye treatment, specialty contact lenses, and medical optometry. He is passionate about staying current with advances in eye care technology and bringing those innovations to his patients when they improve outcomes and quality of care.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Flax has helped mentor more than 30 future optometrists throughout his career. He believes one of the greatest responsibilities of experienced doctors is helping develop the next generation of eye care professionals.
Dr. Flax and his wife, Jenny, have deep roots in Oklahoma and enjoy spending time with their children, grandson, family, and friends. Outside the clinic, he enjoys working outdoors, spending time on the family farm, supporting the University of Oklahoma, and tackling new projects around the house.
For nearly three decades, Dr. Flax has been honored by the trust generations of Oklahoma families have placed in him and remains committed to providing the same level of care, compassion, and personal attention that has guided his career from the beginning.
Dr. Pepper Martin believes patients deserve to leave their appointment feeling informed, reassured, and genuinely cared for. Known for his positive attitude and approachable style, he takes time to listen carefully, answer questions, and explain eye health in a way that is easy to understand.
Growing up in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, Dr. Martin excelled in athletics before pursuing a career in optometry. As a teenager, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, an experience that gave him a firsthand appreciation for compassionate healthcare, patient education, and the importance of strong doctor-patient relationships.
After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Martin began practicing alongside his mentor, Dr. Morgan Lee, in 1994 at the original Norman Vision Clinic. Dr. Lee’s commitment to patient care and service helped shape Dr. Martin’s approach to optometry and inspired a lifelong dedication to the profession. Today, Dr. Martin is honored to continue that family tradition while helping lead the clinic into the future.
Beyond caring for patients, Dr. Martin is passionate about investing in the next generation of eye care professionals. Over the years, Norman Vision Clinic has mentored more than 30 students pursuing careers in optometry through employment opportunities, internships, and shadowing experiences, helping encourage and strengthen the future of the profession.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his wife, Kellie, their three children, and their grandchild. Faith, family, and community remain at the center of his life. The optometric tradition continues within the family as his daughter, Callie Hawkins, is currently attending optometry school and plans to join the clinic after graduation, while his nephew, Dr. Jacob Bellamy, is already serving patients as part of the clinic team.
For Dr. Martin, the most rewarding part of optometry is building lasting relationships with patients and families while carrying forward a legacy of care that has served the Norman community for generations.
Dr. Bellamy was born and raised in southwest Oklahoma and grew up in the town of Anadarko. He began his collegiate career in Dodge City, KS playing junior college baseball before transferring to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford to
earn his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. Dr. Bellamy continued his education in Tahlequah at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry where he received his Doctorate of Optometry. In his spare time, Dr.
Bellamy enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying active, golfing, movies, sports, music, and traveling. Dr. Bellamy provides personable comprehensive primary eye care: prescription glasses, sunglasses, blue-light blocking
lenses, contact lens fitting and training, and provides consultation and management for refractive surgeries, such as LASIK and PRK. Dr. Bellamy treats and manages ocular disease such as: Diabetes, Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration,
